Our Federation Curriculum
At the heart of our schools are three guiding vision statements that shape our approach to education:
All different – all equal
Let your colours shine
Be the best you can be
These statements reflect our commitment to celebrating individuality, encouraging self-expression, and fostering personal excellence.
Our vision is supported by a set of core values that are embedded throughout our curriculum and school culture. These values guide our actions, decisions, and how we interact and learn together. We aim to nurture pupils who are:
Reflective – They think critically about their learning and experiences, using this reflection to grow and improve.
Resourceful – They develop the skills and confidence to tackle challenges creatively and independently.
Resilient – They persevere through obstacles, learning from setbacks and demonstrating determination.
Reciprocal – They collaborate effectively, showing empathy and support, and valuing learning from one another.
We deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that not only meets the requirements of the National Curriculum and EYFS Framework but aspires to go beyond them. Our aim is for all pupils to meet or exceed national standards through an ambitious and inclusive approach.
Our curriculum prioritises essential knowledge while also emphasising the development and application of key skills. We want our pupils to think and act like geographers, historians, scientists, and more.
It is designed to support mixed-age classes, with flexibility for teachers to tailor learning to each cohort.
Core knowledge is mapped across all key stages (EYFS, KS1, LKS2, UKS2), and key skills are differentiated by year group.
Concepts are revisited regularly – each unit, term, and year – to strengthen understanding.
Substantive concepts are identified in each subject, with deeper exploration each time they are encountered.
We are committed to quality-first teaching, where all learners are supported through carefully structured steps.
Scaffolding and differentiation ensure every child can access the curriculum, achieve success, and build confidence.
Teachers consistently connect new learning with prior knowledge, reinforcing understanding through discussion and regular quizzes.
Key concepts are explicitly taught and regularly referred to, helping pupils develop a solid foundation in each subject area.
